Eve to Adam east of Eden
Roy Herndon Smith
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. –Genesis 3:24
The ground’s hard,
I bleed,
and death falls like sleep,
but a valley
is just beyond the rise,
with fruit and game,
a spring of cool water,
grass to lie and love in,
and trees for shelter;
and
He’s not there.
