In Guatemala,
the mother and her baby
died of starvation.
In Honduras, her
baby died in a hurricane;
and she hung herself.
In El Salvador,
she refused to be a man’s
sex slave; he raped her
and killed her and her
baby while two men watched and
jeered and cheered and laughed.
In Texas, two men
watched as another tore her
baby out of her
arms. Others sent her
back to where she came from and
her baby away
somewhere. In Brooklyn,
she pushes the baby in
a carriage down the
sidewalk away from
three men who are walking towards
the house she just left.
