painting by marlene vine (marlenevine.com), poem by roy herndon smith
songs of birds fall on
and erode the silent dream
of a rock on which
the omnipotent
immovable god constructs
his eternal house
streams of melodies
and waves of rhythms pound and
crack the foundations
of oblivion
memories like magma rise
into seas of loss
the surface explodes
into a fiery dawn
storms of birds fly high
then pour down to light
in forests and fields, to sing
of sorrow and joy
